How to make a Petal Cone Box

Made another petal cone box today using the Love Impressions designer series paper from the Occasions Mini Catalog. The single-sided embossed design paper is nice and heavy and makes a great little box.

Here is how to make the box:

First cut out two pieces of the Petal Cone with the Petal Cone die. Fold each piece in half and line up the fold for the top flap with the 3" mark on your cutter and cut off the bottom of the cone.

Next, flip it over and line up the new cut edge with the 1" mark and score, flip and score the other side to make sure you can see the score lines on both sides of the folded paper. Do this on both pieces.

Fold your new score lines and cut as in the following picture to make the flaps for your box bottom.

You should now have 2 pieces like the one above.

Attach the two pieces together using sticky strip on the side flaps.
Fold in and tape closed the bottom of your box with sticky strip. Fold the top flaps closed as seen in the picture below: (Don't know why it is sideways :))

To make the flower:

Using the Fun Flowers die cut 2 of each of the smaller flowers and one small circle. Crumble up in a ball then uncrumble, repeat if necessary. Layer together and pierce a hole in the center and secure with a brad.
Cut one of the larger flowers with the Fun Flowers die and using a bone folder curl up the edges a bit. Using sticky tape adhere the crumpled flower on the larger flower.

To attach flower to the box top add sticky tape to one of the flaps while you have the box closed and then center the flower on top and press where the sticky tape is to adhere. After setting the flower on top of the sticky tape I carefully open the lid and press it from the back to secure the tape to the flower.

Enjoy making these cute little boxes!
